Work is narrowing down on the Great Renovation as finish painting continues, handrail installation in the stair tower continues along with beginning to apply finish to the handrails and completion of the first-floor finishing.
Protective covering has been installed over the first floor for duration of the work. Sanding of the second floor has been completed and finishing of the floor has begun. The elevator mechanics are completing controls and installing cab finishes. Electricians continue to install lighting fixtures, switches and control devices. Barrier tape has been installed along the main entrance sidewalk and surrounding site to deter walking over newly seeded areas. As I noted in the last NPF posting, work should be complete near the end of June/mid-July including bookcase installation and relocation will commence. The Town Hall Library will close August 3 and the main move out of the Town Hall will begin. Completion of the move is targeted for end of August with a “soft” opening of the renovated 4 Franklin Street library on September 3. An Open House is scheduled for Sunday, September 15 from 2pm to 5pm for all to attend. Please come and see what The Great Renovation has accomplished and how it will serve our communities for the next century!
