Progressing toward the finish line, the Great Renovation continues this week with exterior siding preparations for finish painting and final caulking. With warmer weather on the rise finish painting of siding will begin soon. Fiber optic cabling for internet service was installed from the utility pole into the interior network interface. Painting of ceilings and door frames continues as well as final taping and sanding of drywall on the first floor in the main stack room. Flooring work has begun in the first floor stack area where the circulation desk was removed and resultant plywood infill exposed. The plywood is being removed and the area infilled with hardwood flooring to match the existing hardwood floors. Door framing around the elevator door frames on each level is being installed as well as maple hardwood cap trim on the stairwell walls. Lighting fixtures and exit light fixtures are being installed on the second floor. New second floor ceiling fans have arrived and will be installed next week. Heating piping in the lower level is being insulated and cabinet unit heater are being installed. New bookshelf final drawings are under final review and bookshelves will go into fabrication in the next week or two. The move-in planning committee is hard at work and will be posting milestone dates in the near future!
