12/28 The Great Renovation continues this week albeit with small crews through the holiday season. The south addition windows have all been installed, flashed and sealed against the weather, a major milestone to enable mechanical and electrical rough-into proceed. The south stair tower stairs framing has begun with landings installed and stair stringers started. Wall framing at the north wall of the historic library has been completed and strapping on the exterior walls continues in the ’67 addition. Some mechanical rough-in continued installing duct and piping risers in a chase behind the elevator shaft. Hopefully all crews will return after the holiday and progress will continue in earnest as the library looks forward returning to occupancy this coming summer 2024!!

The Great Renovation continues this week with pouring of concrete for the north addition ADA restroom and entrance vestibule foundation walls. Foundation wall forms are removed and backfilling installed. Above ground framing should begin this next week pending how many revelers may be relaxing over the Christmas/New Years Holidays and not on the job! The north main entrance door/frame/threshold has been removed in preparation for a new ADA compliant storefront entrance with temporary sheathing installed to keep the cold weather out. The south addition framing is complete with weather proof exterior membrane installed and new window framing in progress to set the new windows in. Interior work includes continuing installation of blocking in wall frames for support of shelving, restroom fixtures and accessories, etc. in addition to strapping over insulated walls to accommodate electrical and mechanical rough-in.
12/16
The Great Renovation continues this week with completion of the south side framing for the stair tower and elevator shaft. Exterior sheathing was installed in addition to roof sheathing with ice and water shield applied. The goal in sight is to have the south addition water tight in the next week so mechanical and electrical systems can be roughed in. The north side vestibule work began with removal of the canopy, sidewalk and excavation for the footings and foundation walls. Footing forms were placed and concrete poured on Wednesday. Footing forms were stripped and walls forms placed on Thursday and Friday including reinforcing steel placement. Walls will hopefully be poured this coming Monday. Fire alarm rough-in continued and electrical rough-in has started in the historic library and 1967 addition. This coming week should see the north vestibule framing beginning. Almost out of the ground!!
